Beowulf: violent, sexy, mythic, and in the original Old English (extremely brief episodes (2007-10-02)

Beowulf

violent, sexy, mythic, and in the original Old English (I wish!).

Books & Technology

  • Barnes & Nobles‘ web face-lift looks great and features scrolling featured books. But the Fast & Free delivery option looks fantastic. #
  • Don’t try this on an iPhone (you can’t!) international peer-to-peer messages without fees. Thank you BlackBerry! Easier to contact British buds #
  • According to ZDNet, AT & T & Apple are being sued for price discrimination. I’m writing a post on the right legal person to sue Apple & why. #

Blogosphere

  • Slight disappointment with Utterz — the Utter-to-blog auto posting looks great but when I tweak posts for beauty, WordPress messes them up. #

Around Town / Technology

  • Vons just called to say they’d like to deliver the groceries I scheduled online for 5pm. At 11:00 PM! #

Movies & Television & Politics & Billboards

  • This week’s episode of Weeds features two pre-teens trying pot. Totally right for the show, but thankfully they didn’t show it on screen. #
  • Paramount put up the billboard for Beowulf. The trailer looks good. I love how Hollywood keeps going after the public domain classics. #
  • I would be more impressed with Beowulf on the big screen if it were done in the original Old English. Gibson shot in Aramic, why not OE? #
  • Viewing Presidential candidates’ fund-raising totals per year & cumulative makes it seem more like movie box office grosses than politics. #
