I just saw this headline and had to read.  I’ve culled the best so you can skip the rest:

The Yes on 8 campaign relied on tried and true campaign tactics – faith, fear and falsehoods – to mobilize a slim majority of the state’s voters to pass Proposition 8 and ban same-sex marriage in California.

In victory, they’ve defined – constitutionally, at least – our right to marry. The impact extends beyond our city, our region and our state.

The silver lining: the Yes on 8 campaign’s efforts to ban same-sex marriage have galvanized the community in a way that has mobilized a new generation of activists.

..

They’ve inspired – through the anger, hurt and frustration felt in Proposition 8’s aftermath – young members of this community to take responsibility for its future; and they’ve set the stage for a new battle.

If only the arguments were this easily made and won:

Marriage Equality advocate: … and that is why I support marriage equality for same-sex couples.

Religious Right elected official: “But sir, my Bible says marriage is only between a man and a woman. What do you have to say about that?”

Marriage Equality advocate: “Senator, when you took your oath of office, you placed your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You did not place your hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible.”
