BONS MOTS: men and women seeking love for the night
![day 49/366 [seek and hide]](http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2378/2274682235_b4604ddc93.jpg)
While investigating the Hotel Café, a venue where the wonderful Broadway star and film actor James Snyder will perform his original songs tonight (9/16/09) in Hollywood, I ran across these bons mots in a Yelp review by Lynette:
Thus far one of my favorite places to listen to live music, drink, and have an easy night without having crawling creatures (meaning men and women seeking love for the night).
I like how inclusive her definition of crawling creatures is.
So where I’m going is apparently a venue with live music at night, that, surprise! Actually has a crowd that focuses on the live music rather than hooking up.
Or is her Yelp review a sneaky form of counter-programming to improve her odds? Time will tell!

BONS MOTS: I never thought I’d use this class in real life
Just ran across these bons mots from Nicole Kidman about how her training in mime finally came in handy:
You think it’s ludicrous… ‘I’ll never be using this.’ And, suddenly, I have to pretend I have a golden monkey.
From USA Today’s article on The Golden Compass and its daemons.

Joel Tennenbaum’s $675,000 Mix Tape Hits Pirate Bay
A pirate protestor has created a track list prepared from the RIAA v. Tennenbaum court documents. He (I’m guessing a he) has asked everyone to share a link to the torrent file on FaceBook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.
5 Reasons Why Twitter Isn’t Lame and Isn’t Only Stalkers and Marketers
A friend of mine recently posted to FaceBook that she doesn’t get Twitter — it’s only good for stalkers. She followed up in her comment stream that she actually manages several Twitter accounts for business and sees value for business for SEO and marketing, but not for a regular, non-stalker person.
Since I’m a non-stalker, I promised a reply. I like the number 5 and so do copy writers, so here are 5 reasons why Twitter isn’t lame. And isn’t just for stalkers. Or marketers.
Richard Marx Supports Copyright, But Slams Lawsuits
The smart folks over at Ars Tecnica brought to my attention that Richard Marx, as an old-school rock star and songwriter still believes in copyright to protect the artist, but not to victimize the audience of artists.
Remember “Paid Vacation?” It was the album with “Right Here Waiting for You” on it. A song I loved to loathe at the time, but which when I hear now, I sigh.
Marx’s well-thought out statement: Read the rest of this entry »
MySpace — A Place for Dead People

I see dead people. On MySpace. The first was a profile a friend of mine had in his Friends list. It was his teenage brother, who died a few years ago in a sad turn of events. The profile exists as a tribute & a marker, a gravestone in cyberspace. But I didn’t seek out the profile. It came to me.
