I love Penelope Trunk.  She’s a riot.  This post in particular pinged for me because of this quote:

Two neighborhoods—Montclair, NJ, and Park Slope, NY—are the bastions of media elite married to banker elite. And it’s a combustible moment there, demonstrated by how we get a lot of reporting about how sad it is for the bankers right now. Who are mostly middle aged.

I’m from Montclair and can’t say that it seemed particularly banking oriented in its population when I was a kid and teenager.  Who knew?

Eviscerated Shells

In all the Proposition 8 petitions from the side of the angels for marriage equality, I noticed a word crop up again and again about what the proposition would do if allowed as an amendment:  eviscerate.

Now, it appears, that the Fund people who put through the last version of the law but were only helpers for Propositon 8 (and thus not recognized for the court’s purposes for being parties in the lawsuits), are also using the word.

So here it is, per Merrium Webster:
